A Victorian pottery, mochaware jug of inverted baluster shape, with green and blue colouring and dendritic fern decoration, interspersed with black line banding. The slightly moulded handle applied with a metal collar impressed VR458 and with an ink-stamped “Imperial” banner and “Half Gallon” panel on the body below the spout. Good, bright condition with no restoration.

The VR458 stamp was the verification mark used for Carmarthen district and pieces with this mark are generally attributed to the Llanelli pottery factory.
