A superb oak lowboy, or side table, of uncommon form and size at just over two feet wide. The twin piece top with its generous overhang, is banded with walnut and has re-entant corners both at the front and rear.
The three little oak-lined drawers are placed in a “naive” arrangement and retain their original handles with engraved backplates. The arched and undulating frieze design is repeated on the sides.
The table`s most appealing feature though, is the design of the legs, a stylized cabriole which is carved with a raised edge which extends to the squared, pad foot - simple but strikingly successful! English, circa 1740.
65 cms wide, 42 cms deep and 65 cms high
