Superbly Patinated Oak Welsh Low Dresser
£0.00
Sold
A Welsh low dresser of traditional form made from dense and wildly grained native oak which has acquired an especially good surface during the last couple of centuries.
The top has a moulded edge and rear upstand above three long drawers and two small false drawers, the brassware is almost entirely original. The undulating frieze, shaped from a single piece of timber, sits above four well-drawn, ring and baluster turned front legs joined by a potboard and standing on bold, reeded and stepped, braganza-like feet. Richly patinated with intense colour ranging from a warm honey to reddish black. Probably from the Vale of Neath or upper Swansea Valley, circa 1770-1800.
Dimensions:
151 cms wide, 44 cms deep, 83.5 cms high overall.
